Update on the Colbert House
reprinted from the CCNCC Bulletin, 12 February 2023
The Colbert Committee is pleased to present an update on our progress to date.
Several church-related groups are currently using the house for meetings and several others are exploring the possibility of its use for their activities. We are in active discussions with a community service group to utilize both the Colbert House and classroom space in the Church for their mission, which is to provide services to individuals with disabilities. Another group will be using the church basement space after it was determined the house was not conducive for their activity.
There have also been two overnight stays by our former pastor (Fr. George Fleming), and Fr. Steve has notified all Diocesan priests (active and retired) that the House is available to them for same day or overnight retreat purposes.
Our Initial Annual Appeal which was launched in November has attained its financial goal, enabling us to fund the house’s operation for a year with surplus funding available for minor repairs/improvements, if needed. We are tremendously grateful to each of our generous supporters whose donations have helped get our mission off the ground!
The next Annual Appeal is scheduled to begin at the start of the new fiscal year in July. We will keep you posted on our continuing progress, and thank you again for your prayers and financial support.
