Colbert House Event

Rosary Brunch at Colbert House
Tuesday, Sept.2nd, 10:00 AM

As many know, the rosary is a structured prayer that involves reciting specific prayers including the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be. These prayers are structured around “mysteries," which are events from the life of Jesus and Mary, divided into four sets: Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, and Mysteries of Light.

Many people use rosary beads to help keep track of the number of prayers that have been prayed and to help focus one's attention on the mysteries. The repetition of prayers, especially the Hail Mary, is intended to help the person praying enter into a state of contemplation and reflection on the mysteries.

The word “rosary" is derived from the Latin “rosarium," meaning “rose garden" or “garland of roses," which symbolizes prayers offered to Mary, for her intercession. In essence, the rosary is a powerful tool for prayer and meditation, leading the individual to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the lives of Jesus and Mary, and ultimately, to a closer relationship with God.

The rosary is prayed individually, in families and in churches throughout the world. In the CCNCC, in May and in October, the Church St. Joseph prays the rosary on Sundays either before or after Sunday Mass (in English or Spanish, as appropriate).

Throughout the year, the communities of St. James and St. Joseph pray the rosary on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Fridays (Spanish) respectively. This year, Sept. 2, the first Tuesday in September has been set aside for the second Tri-Parish Rosary/Brunch, when the Rosary will be prayed at 10 AM at the Colbert House followed by a brunch and fellowship. All are invited and if you plan to attend, please contact Barbara Haywood at colberthouse284@gmail.com
