Brothers and Sisters: Rejoice in the Lord always! (Phil 4) I shall say it again: Rejoice! St. Paul goes on to say that the Lord Jesus is near!  Today is the third Sunday in Advent, which is sometimes called the “pink” Sunday as that is the color of the vestments the priests usually wear! Sometimes the name of this Sunday is “Gaudete,” (from the Latin) which means Rejoice!  In addition to the vestment color worn by the priest, the pink candle of our Advent wreaths is also lit. In ten days we will be celebrating the great feast of Christmas – which is a wonderful and joyful celebration of God’s love for each of us!  In a sense, these days are a countdown until Christmas and today begins the final days of preparation!  

We also rejoice because we know the Lord Jesus came down from heaven to show the love of God the Father to all humankind!  How else do you need to prepare in these dwindling days of Advent? Look inside this bulletin or to the Advent Calendar sent to all registered parishioners for the dates and times of confession, prayer services and other of activities.  One prayer service that is happening today, is for those in our community who don’t feel joyous because of various reasons (loss of a job, loved one, missing family, isolation, illness, etc.).  May I invite you to join us in a prayer service this afternoon?  We call it the Longest Night (as we are near to the winter solstice) or Blue Christmas.  Either way, we hope it will be a prayerful gathering with readings and songs to remind us of the love of God, in Jesus – even when we don’t feel like rejoicing! While the Lord is near – to all who call on Him – not just to the joyful – but those who are suffering as well – so let us pray for each other! Hermanos y hermanas: ¡Regocíjense siempre en el Señor! (Flp 4) Lo diré de nuevo: ¡Alégrate! St. ¡Pablo continúa diciendo que el Señor Jesús está cerca!

Hoy es el tercer domingo de Adviento, que a veces se llama el domingo "rosa" ya que es el color de las vestiduras que suelen usar los sacerdotes. A veces el nombre de este domingo es "Gaudete" (del latín) que significa ¡Alégrate! Además del color de la vestimenta que usa el sacerdote, también se enciende la vela rosa de nuestras coronas de Adviento. ¡En diez días estaremos celebrando la gran fiesta de Navidad, que es una maravillosa y alegre celebración del amor de Dios por cada uno de nosotros! En cierto sentido, estos días son una cuenta regresiva hasta Navidad y hoy comienzan los últimos días de preparación. 

¡También nos regocijamos porque sabemos que el Señor Jesús bajó del cielo para mostrar el amor de Dios el Padre a toda la humanidad! ¿De qué otra manera necesitas prepararte en estos días menguantes de Adviento? 

En solo diez días, estaremos celebrando la Navidad y luego, en enero, celebraremos la fiesta de la Epifanía. ¡Únase a nosotros cada día dando gracias y alabanzas a Dios por todas las bendiciones que nos ha otorgado a nosotros y a nuestras familias!
Después de la misa del 22 de diciembre ofreceremos la unción de los enfermos.

Cada uno de los siguientes días tendremos misa en español a las 12:30 pm. 
Día de Navidad – 25 de diciembre
Fiesta de la Sagrada Familia (Jesús, María y José) – 29 de diciembre
Fiesta de María, la Madre de Dios – 1 de enero de 2025, y
Fiesta de la Epifanía – 5 de enero de 2025.
