Today’s Feast, the Baptism of the Lord, is the last day of the Christmas Season. Tomorrow begins the first part of Ordinary Time, which will be explained and described more in the coming weeks. Some years, the feast of the Baptism of the Lord is during the week and the last Sunday of Christmas is also the celebration of the Epiphany. However, the calendar allows us to celebrate this important event in
the Universal Church on Sunday this year.

I always think it’s appropriate that the Advent/Christmas Seasons, which included the story of John the Baptist’s conception (the Angel Gabriel informed Mary, Jesus’ mother, that her relative was expecting a child as well) starts and ends with the figure of John the Baptist. This important figure that went before the Lord Jesus, to Prepare His Way, is now helping to prepare Jesus to enter His public ministry. We’ll have many stories, of Jesus’ healings, miracles and prayer lessons over the next two months (and later after the Easter Season).

As we end this Holy Season, I want to thank all who invited and/or brought someone to church for Christmas. There were several faces that we haven’t seen in a while, along with several family members that were encouraged to come to church. I hope that all who came
felt the love, acceptance and warmth of our God through our tri-parish community of the CCNCC. May God continue to bless you and all your loved ones throughout 2025! Thank you, Father Steve

 La fiesta de hoy, el Bautismo del Señor, es el último día del Tiempo de Navidad. Mañana comienza la primera parte del Tiempo Ordinario, que se explicará y describirá con más detalle en las próximas semanas. Algunos años, la fiesta del Bautismo del Señor es entre semana y el último domingo de Navidad es también la celebración de la Epifanía. Sin embargo, el calendario nos permite celebrar este importante acontecimiento de la Iglesia Universal en domingo este año. 

Siempre me ha parecido apropiado que el Tiempo de Adviento/Navidad, que incluía la historia de la concepción de Juan el Bautista (el Ángel Gabriel informó a María, la madre de Jesús, de que su pariente también esperaba un hijo) comience y termine con la figura de Juan el Bautista. Esta importante figura que fue antes que el Señor Jesús, para Preparar Su Camino, está ahora ayudando a preparar a Jesús para entrar en Su ministerio público. Tendremos muchas historias, de las curaciones, milagros y lecciones de oración de Jesús durante los próximos dos meses (y más tarde después de la Temporada de Pascua).

Al terminar esta Temporada Santa, quiero agradecer a todos los que invitaron y/o trajeron a alguien a la iglesia para Navidad. Habia varias caras que no habiamos visto en algun tiempo, junto con varios miembros de familia que fueron animados a venir a la iglesia. Espero que todos los que vinieron sintieron el amor, la aceptación y el calor de nuestro Dios a través de nuestra comunidad triparroquial de la CCNCC. ¡Que Dios continúe bendiciéndolos a ustedes y a todos sus seres queridos a lo largo de 2025!
