Today is the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe! It is also the last Sunday in the Liturgical Year, which started back last Advent. As many would agree, time flies. If you think about it, lots has happened, especially in the last few months in the United States. We went from having a former President running for election against the sitting President and then running against the current Vice President. While those positions are in the political and government realms, we as Roman Catholics have someone who is much more important than all of them combined! We have Jesus Christ, our King!
Can you believe that just over two years ago, there was a new Monarch who ascended to the throne of England. And in that time, there have been other leaders either elected or named to head certain governments. All the while, we have our Lord and Savior, Jesus, who humbled Himself and was born into our world. That is awesome! This week, we will take time to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. I hope that you will stop for a moment or two this week and think about what you are thankful for. The election being over? The peaceful transition of power in our government? Your health? Your family? How about taking an hour out of your day to come to mass this Thursday to celebrate the Love and Hope from God, through Jesus Christ who is our King forever! Presidents, Monarchs and Prime Ministers come and go, but our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe is with us forever! And that we need to be thankful for, today, this week and always! Thank you, God!

Hoy es la solemnidad de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo. También es el último domingo del Año Litúrgico, que comenzó el pasado Adviento. Como muchos estarán de acuerdo, el tiempo vuela. Si lo pensamos bien, han pasado muchas cosas, especialmente en los últimos meses en los Estados Unidos. Pasamos de tener a un antiguo Presidente que se presentaba a las elecciones contra el Presidente en ejercicio y luego contra el actual Vicepresidente. Si bien esos cargos pertenecen al ámbito político y gubernamental, nosotros, como católicos romanos, tenemos a alguien que es mucho más importante que todos ellos juntos. Tenemos a Jesucristo, nuestro Rey.
¿Pueden creer que hace poco más de dos años, un nuevo monarca ascendió al trono de Inglaterra? Y en ese tiempo, ha habido otros líderes elegidos o nombrados para encabezar ciertos gobiernos. Mientras tanto, tenemos a nuestro Señor y Salvador, Jesús, que se humilló y nació en nuestro mundo. ¡Eso es asombroso! Esta semana celebraremos el Día de Acción de Gracias. Espero que se detengan un momento o dos esta semana y piensen por qué están agradecidos. ¿El fin de las elecciones? ¿La transición pacífica del poder en nuestro gobierno? ¿Su salud? ¿Su familia? ¿Qué tal si dedicas una hora de tu día a venir a misa este jueves para celebrar el Amor y la Esperanza de Dios, a través de Jesucristo, que es nuestro Rey para siempre? Los Presidentes, Monarcas y Primeros Ministros van y vienen, pero nuestro Señor y Salvador, Jesucristo, el Rey del Universo ¡está con nosotros para siempre! ¡Y por eso tenemos que estar agradecidos, hoy, esta semana y siempre! ¡Gracias, Dios!
