We have just completed the third of our Listening Sessions, with at least two more topics planned. Thank you to all you have attended
any or all these previously held sessions (A or B). Your input is being taken very seriously. After the next two sessions, we will have at least one more session that for now we will call, “Where do we go from here?” (More on that in the future.) The next two Listening Sessions topics (not necessarily in order) are Finances and Clergy Wellness. While both are important, they will not be held until after Easter. The Finance discussion will include each of parish’s income, expenses, and savings, as well as our current assessments from the Diocese. These assessments include the Diocesan Appeal (see p.6 for details) as well as our insurance expenses and school  assessments. The Clergy Wellness discussion will include several suggestions of new initiatives to be considered from previous Listening Sessions and the need for new volunteers.

As you may recall, part of Pastoral Planning of the Diocese has always been that the number of priests assigned to a network (in our case, the CCNCC) must be able to handle the number of Masses offered each weekend. While not assigned to our network
or parish(es), we have been blessed with the help of both Fr. Gary and Fr. Bill for several years.

However, since we’ve returned from the Covid-19 shutdown, the need for the number of Masses we currently offer does not match our need. In our last attempt, it went little or nowhere. With the passing of Fr. Bill Persia and no firm plan in place for a replacement, I am tasked with, at least temporarily, offering the Spanish Mass on a regular basis. Therefore, the topic of Clergy Wellness will include the need to reduce and change the weekend Mass schedule soon.

Additionally, with a very limited staff we will need to be open to more and new volunteers and cannot expect our limited number
of staff to take on more responsibilities. Lent is a perfect time to pray about sharing your talents of time by volunteering in our
CCNCC or an individual parish. We also pray for those who are called to the priesthood in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany.

Acabamos de completar la tercera de nuestras sesiones de escucha, y tenemos previstos al menos dos temas más. Sus aportaciones se están tomando muy en serio. Después de las dos próximas sesiones, tendremos al menos una sesión más que, por ahora, llamaremos «¿Hacia dónde vamos desde aquí?» (Más información al respecto en el futuro).

Los temas de las dos próximas sesiones de escucha (no necesariamente en orden) son las finanzas y el bienestar del clero. Aunque ambos son importantes, no se celebrarán hasta después  de Pascua. El debate sobre las finanzas incluirá los ingresos, gastos y ahorros de cada parroquia, así como nuestras evaluaciones actuales de la Diócesis. Estas evaluaciones incluyen la apelación Diocesana (véase la página 6 para más detalles), así como nuestros gastos de seguros y las evaluaciones escolares.

Como recordarán, parte de la planificación pastoral de la Diócesis siempre ha sido que el número de sacerdotes asignados a una
red (en nuestro caso, la CCNCC) debe ser capaz de atender el número de Misas que se celebran cada fin de semana. Aunque no
están asignados a nuestra red o parroquia(s), hemos tenido la suerte de contar con la ayuda del P. Gary y el P. Bill durante varios
años.

La necesidad del número de Misas que ofrecemos actualmente no se ajusta a nuestras necesidades. Con el fallecimiento del padre
Bill Persia y sin un plan firme para su sustitución, se me ha encomendado, al menos temporalmente, ofrecer la misa en español
de forma regular. Por lo tanto, el tema del bienestar del clero incluirá la necesidad de reducir y cambiar pronto el horario
de misas del fin de semana.

La Cuaresma es un momento perfecto para rezar por compartir vuestros talentos de tiempo como voluntarios en nuestra CCNCC o en una parroquia individual. También rezamos por aquellos que son llamados al sacerdocio en la Diócesis Católica Romana de Albany. Que Dios nos bendiga, P. Steve
