Christmas is Almost here!
The key point in that statement is that it is NOT here yet! It’s coming and will be here in 20 days and then, the twelve days of Christmas begin! So, then the question is: why do some call this time the Christmas Season? I think the reason is that society in general want to focus on the materialistic part of what has become this season (the Christmas Shopping Season!). While I understand we all need to prepare for Christmas with shopping, wrapping, etc., this is not the true season! As the saying goes, Jesus is the Reason for the Season!
Advent is a time of prayer and preparation for the coming of Jesus. While we pray in anticipation of commemorating His first coming, we joyfully await His second coming, when He will come again in glory!
Also, why do some people place their Christmas tree on the curb the day after Christmas? If you are one of those who do so, may I remind you that the Christmas Season runs from December 25 (or the evening of the 24th) until the Baptism of the Lord (January 9, 2022). This is the church, religious, Catholic season celebrating the incarnation of Jesus! Isn’t it worth celebrating the true season without all the running around and stress? Let’s plan to celebrate the true season for at least twelve days, if not until January 9th!
Lastly, may I suggest that when someone wishes you a happy holiday, you reply that it is ok with you to wish you a Happy or Merry Christmas! In the meantime, enjoy your Advent and pre-Christmas festivities! (Please say a prayer for those who have less than we do during these days of Advent.) Happy Advent! Father Steve

¡El punto clave en esa declaración es que AÚN NO está aquí! ¡Viene y estará aquí en 20 días y luego, comienzan los doce días de Navidad! El Adviento es un tiempo de oración y preparación para la venida de Jesús. Mientras oramos en anticipación de conmemorar Su primera venida, esperamos con alegría Su segunda venida, ¡cuando Él vendrá de nuevo en gloria!
Además, ¿por qué algunas personas colocan su árbol de Navidad en la acera el día después de Navidad? Si eres de los que lo hacen, te recuerdo que el tiempo de Navidad se extiende desde el 25 de diciembre (o la noche del 24) hasta el Bautismo del Señor (9 de enero de 2022). ¡Esta es la iglesia, religiosa, temporada católica que celebra la encarnación de Jesús! ¿No vale la pena celebrar la verdadera temporada sin correr y estresarse? ¡Planeemos celebrar la verdadera temporada durante al menos doce días, si no hasta el 9 de enero!
Por último, permítame sugerirle que cuando alguien le desee unas felices fiestas, usted responda que está bien con usted desearle una Feliz Navidad!
