Browsing Family Formation and Youth Ministry News

Weekend of September October 28 and October 29, 2023

"The value of persistent prayer is not that God will hear us, but that we will finally hear God.”

The 2nd gathering of Family Faith Formation was Sunday, October 22 with the 9:15 am Mass at St. James.   11 families attended with 14 young people.  The young people gathered for age appropriate catechesis, while Joyce Solimini met with the adults for a discussion based on “Do We ‘Hafta Go to Mass?” an article she authored while she was the director of family and adult formation for the Albany Diocese.

Family Faith Formation’s goal is to form FAMILIES in FAITH as disciples of Jesus, living their lives as he lived.  Young people are formed in age appropriate groups, while adults gather for adult catechesis. FFF meets once a month with both a morning and an evening option.  The exception is for those young people eligible for the Sacraments. Preparation for those receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist for the first time is on Sunday morning, while preparation for those receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation is on Sunday evening.

The current calendar is through December 2023.  We will share any changes to the Mass schedule if any are made.
