Weekend of March 25 and March 26, 2023

"The value of persistent prayer is not that God will hear us, but that we will finally hear God.”

As Holy Week begins, we remember the last week of Jesus’s mortal life.  From the triumph of Palm Sunday to the pain of Good Friday, each of us can take the journey.  How will you mark this time?  Our families have prayed the Examen, and the Stations of the Cross, and during the month of April, they will learn about praying using a labyrinth.

Labyrinths, found in many pre-Christian spaces, came to be used as a Christian prayer method during the middle ages when people used it as a means to pray while walking.  Prayer labyrinths are different from mazes in that they are a single non-branching path that leads to the center of a circle and back.  Our families will learn age-appropriate methods for prayers while walking

The next Family Faith Formation gatherings are Sunday, April 2 at 5 pm at St. John the Baptist, and Sunday, April 30 at 9:15 am at St. James.

Confirmation families continue to plan, shop, and cook for Joseph House and Shelter.  The generosity of the CCNCC parishioners on SOUPER BOWL WEEKEND covers the cost of the meals.   Our young people will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, April 16, at 2 pm at Holy Trinity Church in Hudson.

Families with young people receiving the Sacrament of First Eucharist will meet on Sunday, April 2 at 9:30 am at the Church of St. Joseph.  Our younger people will receive the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time on Sunday, May 7 at 9:15 am at St. James Church, or Saturday, May 13 at 4 pm at St. John the Baptist Church.

This year’s National Catholic Youth Conference is November 16 – 19 in Indianapolis and is open to young people entering grades 10 -12 in the fall of 2023.  If you are interested in more information, please call Ruth Ellen at 518/758-1828 or email at ccnccformation@gmail.com.  We will meet with interested young people and their families in the next few weeks to plan fundraisers to help with the cost of the pilgrimage.

Sidewalk Warriors

Each week your donations to this organization help a growing number of people.   In addition to the brownie, muffin, or cake mixes and canned frosting, people continue to need full-sized boxes of cereal and toilet paper.
