Weekend of March 11 and March 12, 2023

"The value of persistent prayer is not that God will hear us, but that we will finally hear God.”

We continue our yearly theme of prayer during our Family Faith Formation gatherings.  Last weekend and this weekend our emphasis is on the Daily Examen, an ancient method of prayer, introduced to the wider Church by St. Ignatius Loyola through his Spiritual Exercises.

During Lent, as we focus on living the life that Jesus called us to live through our Baptism, the Examen provides us with an opportunity to open our minds and hearts to God and His presence within our daily lives. The five simple steps of this prayer are adaptable for all from Kindergarten through adults and allow practitioners to examine their day through prayer.

The next Family Faith Formation gatherings are Sunday, March 12 at 9:15 am at St. James, and Sunday, March 19 at St. John the Baptist at 5 pm.

Confirmation families will meet on March 19 at 5 pm at St. John the Baptist.

Families with young people receiving the Sacrament of First Eucharist will meet on Sunday, March 19 at 9:30 am at the Church of St. Joseph.

In 1995, the first of our young people traveled to the National Catholic Youth Conference, beginning a longstanding tradition of joining with others in the Albany Diocese for a pilgrimage to experience prayer, community, and empowerment.   This year’s conference is November 16 – 19 in Indianapolis and is open to young people entering grades 10 -12 in the fall of 2023.  If you are interested in more information, please call Ruth Ellen at 518/758-1828 or email at ccnccformation@gmail.com
