The Catholic Community of Northern Columbia County

As you may know, this weekend we held the last regularly scheduled Sunday liturgy at St. Joseph Church (formerly, Holy Family) at 4pm this past Saturday. While attendance at the Stottville location has dropped since the start of the Pandemic, it is our hope that 
the people who had been attending Mass at this location will attend Mass at the Church of St. Joseph in Stuyvesant Falls or another
northern Columbia County Catholic Church, enhancing the quality of those services.

While the Church of St. Joseph is not closing its Stottville location, it will no longer be offering Masses or Liturgies there on a regular basis. Please note that it is still a sacred building designated for divine worship. In order for a church to close, the parish must first make a recommendation to the Bishop. The Bishop makes the final decision based on the advice of the Diocesan Presbyteral Council. At this point, no such recommendation has been made, but we’ll be formally sending the request in the near future.              —Fr. Steve

Como sabrán, este fin de semana celebramos la última liturgia dominical programada regularmente en la Iglesia de San José  (anteriormente, Sagrada Familia) a las 4:00 p. m. el sábado pasado. Si bien la asistencia a la ubicación de Stottville ha disminuido
desde el comienzo de la pandemia, esperamos que las personas que habían estado asistiendo a Misa en este lugar asistan a Misa en la Iglesia de St. Joseph en Stuyvesant Falls u otra Iglesia Católica del norte del Condado de Columbia, mejorando la calidad de esos
servicios.

Si bien la Iglesia de St. Joseph no cerrará su ubicación en Stottville, ya no ofrecerá misas o liturgias allí de manera regular. Tenga en cuenta que sigue siendo un edificio sagrado designado para el culto divino. Para que una iglesia cierre, la parroquia primero debe
hacer una recomendación al obispo. El obispo toma la decisión final basándose en el consejo del Consejo Presbiteral Diocesano. En este momento, no se ha hecho ninguna recomendación de este tipo, pero enviaremos formalmente la solicitud en un futuro
