The Catholic Community of Northern Columbia County

Last Sunday we celebrated the Feast of Pentecost, which ended the Easter Season! Today we return to “Ordinary Time,” with the Feast of the Holy Trinity.            

During the Easter Season we celebrated either as the one faith community of the Catholic Church of Northern Columbia County  CCNCC), as a diocese or individually all Seven (7) sacraments. At the Easter Vigil we had 2 adults baptized, 5 people received First Holy Communion and Confirmation. During the month of May, we had lots of First Reconciliations and First Communions. At the cathedral Bishop Ed ordained one “Transitional” Deacon in May. (Two others will be ordained to Priesthood in June – see http://www.albanyvocations.org/events.php?id=32 for details). The bishop also came to St. James in Chatham and confirmed young people from our CCNCC as well as Holy Trinity (Hudson) and Our Lady of Hope (Copake Falls). Lastly, I anointed a couple of people who are ill or facing surgery. We ended May with the Sacrament of Marriage Between Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zullo at St. Joseph’s Church in Stuyvesant Falls! Congratulations and Blessings to all who have received any of the sacraments during the Easter Season!

As the calendar turns to June we not only celebrate Trinity Sunday this weekend, but the feast of Corpus Christi (the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ) next weekend. These two celebrations help us transition from the great season of Easter back the second part of Ordinary Time. More next week! - Fr. Steve

¡El domingo pasado celebramos la Fiesta de Pentecostés, que puso fin al tiempo de Pascua! Hoy volvemos al “Tiempo Ordinario," con la Fiesta de la Santísima Trinidad.

Durante la Temporada de Pascua celebramos como la comunidad de una sola fe de la Iglesia Católica del Norte del Condado de Columbia (CCNCC), como diócesis o individualmente todos los Siete (7) sacramentos. En la Vigilia Pascual tuvimos 2 adultos bautizados, 5 personas recibieron la Primera Comunión y la Confirmación. Durante el mes de mayo, tuvimos muchas Primeras Reconciliaciones y Primeras Comuniones. En la catedral, el obispo Ed ordenó a un diácono "de transición" en mayo. (Otros dos serán ordenados al sacerdocio en junio – ver http://www.albanyvocations.org/events.php?id=32 para más detalles). El obispo también vino a St. James en Chatham y confirmó a los jóvenes de nuestro CCNCC, así como a Santísima Trinidad (Hudson) y Nuestra Señora
de la Esperanza (Copake Falls). Por último, ungí a un par de personas que están enfermas o que se enfrentan a una cirugía. ¡Terminamos Mayo con el Sacramento del Matrimonio entre el Sr. y la Sra. Robert Zullo en la Iglesia de San José en Stuyvesant Falls!  Felicitaciones y bendiciones a todos los que han recibido alguno de los sacramentos durante el tiempo de Pascua!

A medida que el calendario se vuelve hacia junio, no solo celebramos el Domingo de la Trinidad este fin de semana, sino también la fiesta del Corpus Christi (el Cuerpo y la Sangre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo) el próximo fin de semana. Estas dos celebraciones nos ayudan a pasar de la gran temporada de Pascua a la segunda parte del Tiempo Ordinario. ¡Más la próxima semana! - P. Steve
