Solemnity of Mary, Holy Mother of God & The Epiphany of the Lord

Today we celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord Jesus! As many know, some cultures celebrate the arrival of the Magi, on Little Christmas, (which we call the Feast of the Epiphany) as a more important event and celebration than that of the Nativity of the Lord. While it is awesome that “Baby Jesus” is the Word of God made Flesh to dwell among us (John 1:14), it is important to realize that this baby was destined to be the rise and fall of many (Luke 2:34). The manifestation that this child is The Son of the Most High, Our Savior, is what truly makes this Christmas Season extraordinary. While most of us celebrate with exchanging gifts and/or a special meal on Christmas (Day or Eve), we need to remember that the real reason for this Christmas Season is that the Christ, the Anointed, the Messiah is born for us and is now revealed to the world through the visitation of the three kings, the Magi! His destination is Jerusalem. His gift to us is His life, death, and Resurrection. He left us His Body and Blood in the Holy Eucharist.

What is your gift to Him? Gold? Frankincense? Myrrh? Prayer? How about something else? Something only YOU can give? Please pray to decide what the best gift only you can give! So, as we continue the celebration of Christmas let us rejoice for our newborn King is revealed!

¡Hoy celebramos la Epifanía del Señor Jesús! Como muchos saben, algunas culturas celebran la llegada de los Reyes Magos, en la Pequeña Navidad, (que llamamos la Fiesta de la Epifanía) como un evento y celebración más importante que la de la Natividad del Señor. Si bien es asombroso que el “Niño Jesús" sea la Palabra de Dios hecha carne para morar entre nosotros (Juan 1:14), es importante darse cuenta de que este bebé estaba destinado a ser el ascenso y la caída de muchos (Lucas 2:34). La manifestación de que este niño es El Hijo del Altísimo, Nuestro Salvador, es lo que realmente hace que esta temporada navideña sea extraordinaria. Si bien la mayoría de nosotros celebramos intercambiando regalos y / o una comida especial en Navidad (Día o Víspera), debemos recordar que la verdadera razón de esta temporada navideña es que el Cristo, el Ungido, el Mesías nace para nosotros y ahora se revela al mundo a través de la visitación de los Reyes Magos! Su destino es Jerusalén. Su regalo para nosotros es Su vida, muerte y resurrección. Él nos dejó Su Cuerpo y Su Sangre en la Sagrada Eucaristía.

¿Cuál es tu regalo para Él? ¿Oro? ¿Incienso? ¿Mirra? ¿Oración? ¿Qué tal otra cosa? ¿Algo que solo TÚ puedes dar? ¡Por favor, ora para decidir cuál es el mejor regalo que solo tú puedes dar! Entonces, mientras continuamos la celebración de la Navidad, ¡regocijémonos porque nuestro Rey recién nacido se revela!
