Happy New Year to all! Whether you have joined us for the “holidays” or have been a long-time parishioner, the staff of our Catholic Community of Northern Columbia County (CCNCC) and I pray that these early days of 2023 (and the remaining days of the Holy Christmas Season) be blessed with health and peace for you and all your loved ones!

If you re-read today’s Gospel, you will know that the story of Jesus’ birth moves from the Shepherd’s going in haste to Bethlehem to see the new-born king, to returning home. When they returned home, they were praising and glorifying God for all that they saw and learned. During these first days of the New Year, let us take a few moments and give glory and praise to God for all the gifts God has bestowed on us. Not only the material gifts that we have, but the spiritual gifts as well! Those gifts include Jesus’ Incarnation, grace and blessings and His Body and Blood in Holy Communion.

The shepherds were ordinary people and found God by searching for God. We are ordinary people as well, so let us look for God in our lives today and this year. Let us journey and pray together as our one faith community of the CCNCC today and every day of this new year! Join us, as often as you can! ¡Feliz Año Nuevo para todos! Ya sea que se haya unido a nosotros para las “vacaciones" o haya sido un feligrés durante mucho tiempo, el personal de nuestra Comunidad Católica del Condado del Norte de Columbia CCNCC) y yo rezamos para que estos primeros días de 2023 (y los días restantes de la Santa Navidad Season) sea bendecido con salud y paz para usted y todos sus seres queridos!

 Si relees el Evangelio de hoy, sabrás que la historia del nacimiento de Jesús va desde que el Pastor va de prisa a Belén para ver al rey recién nacido, hasta que regresa a casa. Cuando regresaron a casa, estaban alabando y glorificando a Dios por todo lo que vieron y aprendieron. Durante estos primeros días del Año Nuevo, tomemos unos momentos y demos gloria y alabanza a Dios por todos
los dones que Dios nos ha otorgado. ¡No solo los dones materiales que tenemos, sino también los dones espirituales! Esos dones incluyen la Encarnación, la gracia y las bendiciones de Jesús y Su Cuerpo y Sangre en la Sagrada Comunión.

Los pastores eran gente corriente y encontraron a Dios buscándolo. Nosotros también somos gente normal, así que busquemos a Dios en nuestras vidas hoy y este año. ¡Caminemos y oremos juntos como nuestra única comunidad de fe de la CCNCC hoy y todos los días de este nuevo año! ¡Únase a nosotros, tan a menudo como pueda! ¡Feliz Año Nuevo y Día 8 de esta Bendita Temporada Navideña! - Padre Steve
