Can you believe that we are already at the end of the first month of the “new” year? As such, in some years, the Holy Season of Lent would be starting in February. However, this year, Ash Wednesday, the day that Lent begins, is on March 2nd. (Watch for upcoming information on ash distribution and other opportunities for prayer that will help us prepare for Easter.

To get ready for Lent, a reminder that it is a season of prayer and preparation. Prayer for each of us to be mindful of all the good God has done for us (Jesus’ Incarnation, miracles, how to pray, etc.) and ultimately, His suffering, death, and resurrection. However, that is not the only reason for the season of Lent. It is (since the first century) a time of preparation for those who would be joining the church through the sacraments and the renewal of our baptismal promises. For us, we expect to have six (6) individuals joining the Catholic Church or completing their Sacraments of Initiation. May I ask that you pray for them, not only in Lent, but as they continue their journey this coming month. More on who they are, the different rituals that they will be participating in (and that we will be witnessing at various masses) will come in the next few weeks. ¿Puedes creer que ya estamos al final del primer mes del "nuevo" año? Como tal, en algunos años, el Tiempo Santo de Cuaresma comenzaría en febrero. Sin embargo, este año, el Miércoles de Ceniza, día en que comienza la Cuaresma, es el 2demarzo. (Esté atento a próxima información sobre la distribución de cenizas y otras oportunidades para la oración que nos ayudarán a prepararnos para la Pascua.

Para prepararse para la Cuaresma, un recordatorio de que es una temporada de oración y preparación. Oración para que cada uno de nosotros sea consciente de todo el bien que Dios ha hecho por nosotros (la encarnación de Jesús, milagros, cómo orar, etc.) y, en última instancia, su sufrimiento, muerte y resurrección. Sin embargo, esa no es la única razón para la temporada de Cuaresma. Es (desde el primer siglo) un tiempo de preparación para aquellos que se unirían a la iglesia a través de los sacramentos y la renovación de nuestras promesas bautismales. Para nosotros, esperamos tener seis (6) individuos que se unan a la Iglesia Católica o completar sus Sacramentos de Iniciación. Permítanme pedirles que oren por ellos, no sólo en cuaresma, sino mientras continúan su camino este próximo mes. Más sobre quiénes son, los diferentes rituales en los que participarán (y que presenciaremos en varias misas) vendrán en las próximas semanas.
