The Catholic Community of Northern Columbia County

In the bulletin two weeks ago, some of the highlights of this past fiscal year in the CCNCC were listed. We continue that list today.

Shared Services – the term while not new to our tri-parish community, it has been expanded.  Prior to my arrival, there were some shared services and expenses between St. John’s and St. Joseph’s, especially in the area of Faith Formation (led by Ruth Ellen Berninger).  This past year, we expanded it to include St. James.  (Unfortunately, because of COVID, none of the parishes were able to hold in-person classes.  We are hoping and praying that this coming school year will be different.)

Prior to my arrival the position of Pastoral Associate for Administration was made Shared Services for all three parishes.  That position, led by Debbie Halpin,  has continued to evolve and will continue to do so during the coming year.  As Communications and Media is becoming increasingly important in society and in our one faith community, the position led by Beth Lenahan will continue to evolve and become more a Shared Services and expenses position.  (Effective July 1, that position is now based in the Central Office in Valatie.)

One point to clarify:  The goal of Shared Services and our One Faith Community of the Catholic Church of Northern Columbia County is NOT to eliminate the 5 communities, 4 churches, 3 parishes, that speak 2 languages with one pastor. but to assist each other in the mission of Jesus Christ. There will continue to be a St. James Parish, a St. John the Baptist Parish, and a St. Joseph Parish. We strive to be an open and welcome community and will continue to do so, including more and more bilingual communications and liturgies whenever appropriate and possible. En el boletín de hace dos semanas, se enumeraron algunos de los aspectos más destacados de este último año fiscal en el CCNCC. Continuamos esa lista hoy.

Servicios compartidos: el término, aunque no es nuevo en nuestra comunidad de tres parroquias, se ha ampliado.  Antes de mi llegada, había algunos servicios y gastos compartidos entre San Juan's y San Jose's, especialmente en el área de Formación en la Fe (dirigido por Ruth Ellen Berninger).  El año pasado, lo ampliamos para incluir a Santiago. 

Antes de mi llegada, el puesto de Asociado Pastoral para la Administración se convirtió en Servicios Compartidos para las tres parroquias.  Esa posición, dirigida por Debbie Halpin, ha seguido evolucionando y seguirá haciéndolo durante el próximo año.  A medida que las Comunicaciones y los Medios de Comunicación se vuelven cada vez más importantes en la sociedad y en nuestra comunidad de fe única, la posición dirigida por Beth Lenahan continuará evolucionando y se convertirá más en una posición de Servicios Compartidos y gastos.  (A partir del 1 de julio, ese puesto ahora se basa en la Oficina Central en Valatie).

Un punto para aclarar: El objetivo de los Servicios Compartidos y nuestra Comunidad de Una Fe de la Iglesia Católica del Norte del Condado de Columbia NO es eliminar las 5 comunidades, 4 iglesias, 3 parroquias, que hablan 2 idiomas con un pastor.  sino para ayudarnos unos a otros en la misión de Jesucristo. Seguirá habiendo una parroquia de Santiago, una parroquia de San Juan y una parroquia de San José. Nos esforzamos por ser una comunidad abierta y bienvenida y continuaremos haciéndolo, incluyendo más y más comunicaciones bilingües y liturgias siempre que sea apropiado y posible.  Cualquier pregunta, por favor contáctenos.
