Weekend of March 2 and 3, 2024

"The value of persistent prayer is not that God will hear us, but that we will finally hear God.”

Our Lenten journey continues.

Are you finding the journey challenging?  Do the words PRAY, FAST, GIVE remind you of the times you have failed to keep your Lenten intentions?   If your answer is “yes” then perhaps it is time for a simple daily EXAMEN.  This prayer form is used as a reflection at the end of each day, using 5 questions:

Where did I see God today? (I am aware of God’s presence)

For what am I thankful today? (I recognize all that God has done for me)

What emotions did I experience today?  (I recognize that each day holds a wide range of feelings)

In what way is God directing my prayer? (As God speaks to me, He knows what I need today)

How do I feel about tomorrow? (I ask for God’s help in facing tomorrow’s challenges)

The Examen gives each of us an opportunity to see where we have succeeded, and those areas that need work, all the while making us aware that God loves us all the time.  What a perfect prayer for our Lenten journey!
